In Joshua 5, the Lord has Joshua circumcise Israel and celebrate the Passover as a renewal of the covenant He made with them. This happened before they set out in conquest of the land and in order that God made prepare them for what was ahead. God, in the same way, prepares our hearts as we gather each week around the Lord's table to celebrate all that He has done in Christ.
