Sermon Outline 8.6.2024
The Effects of Sin
Text: Romans 1:21-32
Sermon Theme: This sermon follows last week where we see that mankind knows God exists and so has no excuse, but tries to suppress that truth by unrighteousness. This text explores how both man responds to that knowledge and how God responds to man’s rejection of Him, as He "gives up" unrepentant sinners to their own sinful desires, demonstrating that His mercy has limits. Yet, in contrast, the gospel offers hope through Christ, who was delivered up for our trespasses, offering salvation to all who repent & believe!
I.Sin results in false religion (1:21-23)
A.They are thankless and never honor God (1:21)
B.False religion is rooted in idolatry that results from futile thinking (1:21-23)
II.False religion results in a wicked life and conduct leading to death (1:24-32)
A.He gives them over to the lusts of their hearts (1:24-25)
B.He gives them over to dishonorable passions (1:26-27)
C.He gives them over to a misfit mind (1:28-32)
